TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Yesaya 12:2-3

Konteks

12:2 Look, God is my deliverer! 1

I will trust in him 2  and not fear.

For the Lord gives me strength and protects me; 3

he has become my deliverer.” 4

12:3 Joyfully you will draw water

from the springs of deliverance. 5

Yesaya 41:16

Konteks

41:16 You will winnow them and the wind will blow them away;

the wind will scatter them.

You will rejoice in the Lord;

you will boast in the Holy One of Israel.

Yesaya 61:10

Konteks

61:10 I 6  will greatly rejoice 7  in the Lord;

I will be overjoyed because of my God. 8

For he clothes me in garments of deliverance;

he puts on me a robe symbolizing vindication. 9

I look like a bridegroom when he wears a turban as a priest would;

I look like a bride when she puts on her jewelry. 10

Yesaya 65:14

Konteks

65:14 Look, my servants will shout for joy as happiness fills their hearts! 11

But you will cry out as sorrow fills your hearts; 12

you will wail because your spirits will be crushed. 13

Yesaya 66:11-12

Konteks

66:11 For 14  you will nurse from her satisfying breasts and be nourished; 15

you will feed with joy from her milk-filled breasts. 16

66:12 For this is what the Lord says:

“Look, I am ready to extend to her prosperity that will flow like a river,

the riches of nations will flow into her like a stream that floods its banks. 17

You will nurse from her breast 18  and be carried at her side;

you will play on her knees.

[12:2]  1 tn Or “salvation” (KJV, NIV, NRSV).

[12:2]  2 tn The words “in him” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

[12:2]  3 tc The Hebrew text has, “for my strength and protection [is] the Lord, the Lord (Heb “Yah, Yahweh).” The word יְהוָה (yehvah) is probably dittographic or explanatory here (note that the short form of the name [יָהּ, yah] precedes, and that the graphically similar וַיְהִי [vayÿhi] follows). Exod 15:2, the passage from which the words of v. 2b are taken, has only יָהּ. The word זִמְרָת (zimrat) is traditionally understood as meaning “song,” in which case one might translate, “for the Lord gives me strength and joy” (i.e., a reason to sing); note that in v. 5 the verb זָמַר (zamar, “sing”) appears. Many recent commentators, however, have argued that the noun is here instead a homonym, meaning “protection” or “strength.” See HALOT 274 s.v. III *זמר.

[12:2]  4 tn Or “salvation” (so many English versions, e.g., KJV, NIV, NRSV, NLT); NAB “my savior.”

[12:3]  5 tn Or “salvation” (so many English versions, e.g., KJV, NAB, NIV, NRSV, NLT); CEV “victory.”

[12:3]  sn Water is here a metaphor for renewed life; the springs symbolize the restoration of God’s favor.

[61:10]  6 sn The speaker in vv. 10-11 is not identified, but it is likely that the personified nation (or perhaps Zion) responds here to the Lord’s promise of restoration.

[61:10]  7 tn The infinitive absolute appears before the finite verb for emphasis.

[61:10]  8 tn Heb “my being is happy in my God”; NAB “in my God is the joy of my soul.”

[61:10]  9 tn Heb “robe of vindication”; KJV, NASB, NIV, NRSV “robe of righteousness.”

[61:10]  10 tn Heb “like a bridegroom [who] acts like a priest [by wearing] a turban, and like a bride [who] wears her jewelry.” The words “I look” are supplied for stylistic reasons and clarification.

[65:14]  11 tn Heb “from the good of the heart.”

[65:14]  12 tn Heb “from the pain of the heart.”

[65:14]  13 tn Heb “from the breaking of the spirit.”

[66:11]  14 tn Or “in order that”; ASV, NRSV “that.”

[66:11]  15 tn Heb “you will suck and be satisfied, from her comforting breast.”

[66:11]  16 tn Heb “you will slurp and refresh yourselves from her heavy breast.”

[66:11]  sn Zion’s residents will benefit from and enjoy her great material prosperity. See v. 12.

[66:12]  17 tn Heb “Look, I am ready to extend to her like a river prosperity [or “peace”], and like an overflowing stream, the riches of nations.”

[66:12]  18 tn The words “from her breast” are supplied in the translation for clarification (see v. 11).
